Worship and Music
At the Chapel, music is a vital part of weekly worship and prepares the congregation’s hearts to receive the Word as it is preached and proclaimed. Our musical worship is a “blended worship” that incorporates choral, instrumental, and modern praise music, as well as traditional hymns.
Special annual musical events include the Christmas concert, Good Friday service, and the Concert Series featuring special musical guests. Minister of Worship, Ted Cornell directs the vibrant and growing Music Ministry.
To learn more about any of these ministries, please contact Karen Thompson, Worship Administrative Assistant, at 757-229-7152, or by e-mail.
Adult Choir
The Adult Choir participates regularly in Sunday morning worship and also ministers through annual Christmas concerts, the Good Friday service, and other special occasions. Men, especially tenors, and first sopranos are needed to balance the choir. If you are interested in singing in the choir and have experience with choral music, have singing ability, and can read music, please contact us (new members are welcome to join us in January 2010): Karen Thompson | E-mail | 941-1202.
Worship Team
The Worship Team also participates regularly in Sunday morning worship. Its members contribute contemporary praise songs to our blended musical worship and revive traditional songs of faith in fresh ways. Those who are interested in playing with the praise band or leading singing are invited to make their gifts known by contacting us: Karen Thompson | E-mail | 941-1202.
Youth Instrumental Ensemble
Violins, cellos, flutes, and more compose this growing ministry. Members of the Youth Ensemble offer their gifts on several occasions during the year. Resuming in September 2009, rehearsals take place Sunday evenings, 5:15 -6:15 p.m., in Woodward Hall. For specific dates, visit the Chapel Calendar.
Children’s Choir
All children in grades 1-5 with a desire to sing are invited to join the Children’s Choir. Rehearsals take place Sunday evenings, 5:00 - 6:00 p.m., in Ross Hall. For specific dates, visit the Chapel Calendar.

Floral Guild
The Chapel Floral Guild “beautifies the place of His sanctuary for all worshipers” (Isaiah 60:13b) by placing flowers in the Worship Room throughout the year. At Easter and Christmas, the Floral Guild coordinates the placement of lilies and poinsettias in the Worship Room.
Fresh altar flowers may be placed in the Worship Room for a special occasion or in honor or memory of a loved one. Cost of these floral arrangements is $75. To request placement of flowers, fill out our Online Form.
