“Ask, and it shall be given you; seek; and you shall find; knock and it shall be opened unto you. For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.” ~Matthew 7:7-8
Vision Statement: “Lackey Free Clinic – A Center of Hope for Today and Eternity.”
Mission Statement: “To provide skilled, compassionate health care and counseling to the medically disadvantaged in a manner that honors the name of Jesus Christ.”
Dr. Jim & Cooka Shaw have been members of the Williamsburg Community Chapel since 1994. Through the Chapel the Shaws developed relationships that both strengthened their faith and supported their mission.
The Lackey Free Clinic opened in 1995 providing free health care to the medically uninsured. Inspired by the Bible verse - “In as much as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.” Matthew 25:40, the Shaws began this medical ministry. What began as a one-night a week walk-in clinic in a small space at a church has evolved into a five-day a week operation providing chronic care clinics, specialty appointments, pharmacy, dental and mental health services in a facility housing several exam rooms and a dental chair.
Over the past 15 years, almost 5,000 individuals have been touched by the compassionate, healing and caring hands of the providers who serve at the Clinic. Many of the faithful volunteers have come from WCC and the Chapel has provided financial support since 1998.
