Arlene Vander Loon
Arlene joined the Chapel staff team as Director of Christian Education in February, 2005. In this capacity, she oversees the Children’s, Adult Vine Life, and Resource Center ministries.
Arlene earned a B.A. in Christian Education and an M.A. in Christian Ministries from Wheaton College and Graduate School in Wheaton, Illinois, in the late 1970s. She then served as Director of Christian Education for 14 years in Grand Rapids, Michigan. “From 1993 to 2003,” Arlene relates, “I was a ‘commuter missionary’, working with a team of Ukrainians to develop children’s ministry training and curriculum materials and to establish strategic training teams to assist in all 25 oblasts of Ukraine. Observing the amazing number of children who brought their families to Christ was one of the biggest blessings of my life.”
Arlene’s husband, Ted, is a boat, water, and history enthusiast. He and Arlene enjoyed exploring the Lake Michigan shoreline for many years and are now enjoying the historical and water-related points of interest in Virginia.
